OPEN ADOPTION: A Documentation of a Collaboration

Holly Crawford, Jodi Patterson and Case #21

Welcome!
My name is Jodi. I am an artist in Michigan who has consented to adopt a piece of art from Holly Crawford in New York. Holly titles this collaboration "Open Adoption" and I am entitled/entrusted with Case #21 and the responsibility of keeping Holly informed of it's well-being. The criteria for adoption are as follows:

Looking for a safe stable, loving home with a "good enough mother."

Preference will be given to institutions and individuals regardless of race, creed or sexual preference.

Art in this program may never be owned, and it is always evolving.

No abuse will be tolerated.

Contact is necessary.

You must name the art and you adopt and provide me with photographs, and a narrative of its history. I need social interaction and it development while it is in your care.

Hi Holly,
My name is Jodi and I am enjoying your Open Adoption work this morning. Thanks for sharing - has a very communal/gifting feel to it.  I'd like for you to consider me as a "good enough" mother and trust me with a case.  Hmmm ... how do I convince you when I don't really have any traditional motherly traits?  I am 37.  Female.  No children, no lover, and, well, no friends in general.  I am a workaholic artist/teacher who lives in the middle of nowhere and hones the presence of art around me to keep me inspired.  I'm addicted to travel (gotta get outta here as
much as possible!)  and exercise.   I can use a chain-saw and any other tool that may be needed to keep the case safe - though I'm not much of a cook.  There is no television in my home  and I have a cat who looks like a cougar.  His name is Daphne.
Case #21 is appealing to me.  Very umbilical/uterine - sensuous and calm.  But not still.  Curious and adaptive are good traits for a case for me - though I have an aversion to reptiles.

Hi Jodi,
Thank you inquiry.  That case is available.    This is a trust
relationship. I need to know that you will return my painting. You sound like you would make  "good enough mother." I have a one page contract that I would need to mail or fax to you.  It basically says that you will return the to me in a year. You will give it a name and let me know how it's doing.
One person was thinking of  blogging. They haven't. It would be
interesting.
Those painting fit into a Fedex midsize box, so they are easy to send. I haven't sent one to someone I haven't meet. This would be interesting.
